Did not say CLICK!!! Said group. We all have groups we play with on a regular basis. I'm not the one getting bent here. I don't care how you play. Where you play or with whom you play. I do however care if I have to follow rules that only apply to people that are much better players than myself. I used you as an example cause you and I are discussing this back and forth. So.... don't take all this so personal. I HAVE AN OPINION TOO!!!!!!! It just don't jive with yours. Only difference here is.. I can let you have yours. Anything I say here is not pointed at you. Or at any one person or a group of people. It is an opinion and that's all it is.

click, group, whatever -

Anyways, your still not making any sense to me. How is this helping any " better " player?

1) Better tag holder makes rules of the match
2) Challenger gets to choose if he/she would like it to be held @ Ferry Park or not

Where is that helping the better player? Hell all this talking about it has got me thinking of a better way to do this.

The tag holder that is challenged gets the option of either A) making the rules of the round or B) picks where it's played. How is that? It's like what they do in Football. Expect there is not flipping a coin lol. One team choices this and the other team gets the 2nd option. That way it's fair for everyone.

If you can explain how that is helping only 1 side then please by all means explain. If you just don't like the idea then say just that.

Starting to feel like things are only going to be good for the better players and those of us who aren't as good at the game are going to be S.O.L. and have no hope of ever being able to hold one of the so called GOLD tags.

anyone can challenge for a gold tag anytime ... that's one reason we're going to try and come up with a way of tracking where all the tags are for the upcoming year.

on the "rules" I wasn't around when ours were developed BUT doing a few google searches they seem pretty standard.

Rochester DG Club

Raleigh DG Club

Lumberton DG Club

Harrisonburg DG community

Most are very similar to ours so I assume some research was done and applicable rules were adopted. That being said, the answer is not limiting access to the top tags. does it suck if all the "low tags" are out of town, yes but that give me incentive to try and get better and bring them "home".

in the end it's a money question. Do you want to simply have tags for "active Local" members currently ~30ish which would significantly drive up the cost of each tag to purchase driving down $ to the club for other activities. I could go on but versus kicking a hornets nest in cyber land, I'll be glad to discuss it at our next meeting or the next time you see me "on course" ;-)

mr.rob wrote:If all parties agree tag can be played for anywhere. But if someone calls someout out, the Challenger has the option to say the match must be played at ferry.

low tag calls the tees per rules and the implies consensus has been location and OB/other silly rules as well. The Harrisonburg rules has a provision that the "default" location is a certain course but can be elsewhere if all parties agree and during tournaments. Maybe something to look into BUT don't expect to force someone from Mobile to come to ferry to defend their #8 tag. You'll be driving unless they just happen to be coming to town. Too many forced forfeits will drive down out-of-town memberships and tag purchases.

In the end Tags are there to 1) get folks out playing more 2) introduce some friendly competition and get folks used to the tournament atmosphere whether you have the 50 tag playing for the 20 tag or the 30 defending against a challenge from the 60 tag get out there and have fun.

Enough with the GOLD tag crap....
1. We will not limit our bag tags to locals
2. You do not have to be a member to have a tag
3. You, as the challenger must willing to play by the person you have challenged rules, and NO, its not a fair rule to say that you will only play at Ferry. If you challenge someone, one would think that you are pretty confident that you can compete with them, hence the course shoudn't matter.
4. Our rules are standard bag tag rules

Mike F., John B.,Todd, Luke, Sam, the #3 Sam lost, the one Scott C. lost =7
Willie W. and Eric D. =2
There is only 1 GOLD missing, but still only 2 out of town.
The problem isn't the people from out of town.

As far as the food toss Sat.
1.That whole thing should have never taken place. If you go buy our rules, Rob and Sam should have played by themselves before the #1 was ever put in a tag round.
2. I should have not said ok to Chase playing with a borrowed tag. I take full responsibility for the confusion that caused.

With all this said, the BOD is working on a system to keep track of the 2012 Tags. Thank-you for your patience.

By rules I'm assuming you're talking about the low tag making up the rules for the round? OB's and island holes, that kinda thing?

Or are you talking about the overall bag tag rules. AFIK they are not going to change, maybe some minor mods or additions but it will be discussed prior to implementation.

the other tag round rules called by the low tag player at the time ... not much I can say there other than just not to play in that particular tag round. Generally most of us are understanding and aren't going to call 7, 9, 10, 18 island holes and all kinda of OB against players we know aren't going to be able to compete with that. Sidewalks and playgrounds OB maybe ;-) but not get too crazy against players that much weaker than we are.

[quote="Mr.Rob"]Ur just not understanding again. Its an option. The tag holder gets to make all the rules. So why can't the Challenger have the option to stay where the tag is played at? all I'm trying to do is make it fair for both Challenger an tag holder.

Low tag holder makes the rules Rob ... that's just the way it is ... just about all tag rules I've found out there say that without exception. Just the one that had a default course but again that was wavierable and IMO not a good option for us here.

Ronda,

I think Scott C. lost tag #8 as I have tag #7 that I'll be sure is at the EOY tag round as long as it's in my possession Exclamation Wink

Sweet.. so if someone challenges me and I say well.. we are going to have the round in Alaska it's ok..

Yes.. that's a tad extreme but it's the point i'm trying to make. Does no one realize the $ factor here in going to these places? I'm all for completion sure.. but driving to another state to have a " chance " to beat them is not worth the $$.

All i'm pushing for is a middle ground to be found some how. An a way to see more of the good tags showing up.. that's where I was originally going with this.

Seriously?!?!

we'll discuss in person ... I'm not getting into splitting hairs and trips to ALASKA in the forum Suspect

AND ... if you have tag # 50 ... tag # 49 is a good tag! stop focusing on the "gold"

I'll make all the dang tags black next year!!

LOL actually we're discussing the possibility of having 50ish colored tags to help alleviate some of this maybe but not if all you're going to focus on is the top 10. In that case all I can say is UP YOUR GAME MAN! keep your play at a level where you don't have to worry about losing one of the goldies

John

Kool...I forgot about your #7

Rob.... I completely agree with you on wanting to see more of the lower tags out there. But with only 2 out of town, its our "local pros" Rolling Eyes that aren't bringing them out!

John... I have no problem with the rules. I had a problem with feeling like the only place to play when challenged or challenging is Ferry. I want to play at other parks. When challenged don't only play the park you play at all the time. Take a drive and play Milton or Blue Angel. It's not too far and if gas is an issue I will put on a hobo outfit and take a collection to get you there.

Wait.. u haven't been wearing it already... lol! jk!

Ur still missing the hole thing. Its not just bout ferry silly. It was meant as a way to give both parties some leverage in the challenge. U think I want a better player to play me at ferry.. hell no!! But if I say lets go to Milton. Its anyone's game. But its all been settled. The better tag holder makes all the rules including the place to play. Sad

Kool ... yeah AFAIK there's no plan to institute a "challanges have to be played at course X" rule.

I like playing other parks as well and think it actually helps your game to get out and play on other parks, especially in the distance category. That's the main reason that, as Ronda said in another thread, some folks never learn or develop any kind of distance with their mid-ranges or putters. So use to using a driver to go 250-300' and mid for only upshots that they never realize that you CAN actually throw a putter 300' or further if you work on your form. affraid

bag tags

Post  Barenakedreterd on Tue Jan 24, 2012 6:07 pm

Wow i never realized how big of a deal these bag tags were. This is the first time ive gotten on here to look at the forum and i dont see why people are making suck a HUGE deal about the gold tags. I understand the minor importance of the gold tags but people its a piece of medal that we play for and if you cant beat someone who has a gold tag then you dont deserve them. And as far as I know if you have a gold tag you have played for them and won them. I'd like to see all this gripping stop. There are certain people playing for our tags that honestly make tag rounds no fun Mad This is a game, go out there play your best and at the end of the day if you lose wake up tomrrow and try harder! And have fun Laughing

Lol my bad TK.. I like the bag tag thing a lot. i think its a great to get people in our club together and play. But we all have friends that live out of town and own playground bag tags. Ill admit i dont look at to many disc golf forums but if i was to look at one that had all this negative talk about bag tags i would want to get involved with them. and in the end every bag tag and membership goes to growing and bettering the club we are apart of. And I felt like i was pretty nice about it. Smile
